ENTERING THE COMPETITION

IS THERE AN ENTRY FEE?
No. There is no entry fee.

MAY I ENTER MORE THAN ONE DESIGN TO THE COMPETITION?
No. You may only submit one entry to the competition.

ARE STUDENTS ALLOWED TO WORK IN TEAMS?
Yes. You may submit an entry in a team of up to 3 members. Teams of more than 3 members will not be accepted. For team entries, only one team member should submit the entry. Awards will be split between the team members.

IF I SUBMIT AN ENTRY AS PART OF A TEAM, CAN I ALSO SUBMIT AN INDIVIDUAL ENTRY?
No. Students are only allowed to enter the competition once, either as part of a team, or as an individual.

IF I AM SUBMITTING AN ENTRY AS PART OF A TEAM, DOES EACH TEAM MEMBER NEED TO REGISTER AND SUBMIT OUR DESIGN IDEA?
No. Only one team member needs to register and submit your design. In the online registration form, there is a place to list each team member’s name and information and to upload the signed parent/legal guardian consent form for each team member.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY ENTRY?
Online entries should be submitted through the website while hard copies should be handed to your teacher. Point of contact for grades 7-8 is Mr. Jino Kurian. Point of contact for grades 9-10 is Ms. Pallavi Das. The submission site will open on December 6, 2021 and will remain open till December 17, 2021, 11:59 p.m. Read more about the challenge and how to enter to get started on your design!

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSIONS?

IS THERE A STANDARD FILE-NAMING FORMAT REQUIRED FOR UPLOADING THE DESIGN SKETCH AND PERMISSION FORM?
No. Make sure only your unique identification number is included on your sketch or file name.

ARE THERE ANY LIMITATIONS TO WHAT I CAN DESIGN?
There are no limitations to what you can design. Visit the student & teacher resources for brainstorming tips on how to get started and more.

IS THE COMPETITION LIMITED TO 2D DESIGN, OR COULD I SUBMIT A 3D DESIGN IDEA?
The competition is not limited to 2D designs. But if you are creating a 3D design, you will need to submit your idea in a 2D form, such as a sketch or photograph.

WHERE DO I FIND THE PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN CONSENT FORM?
The form is available to download on the how to enter page and can be accessed by clicking here.

TO WHOM DO WE SEND/WHERE DO WE UPLOAD PERMISSION FORMS?
Permission forms are submitted as part of your initial registration. Once the registration portal opens on November 22, 2021, you will see a section where you can upload a scan of your signed permission form. In addition, hand over the hard copy of the form to your teacher – Mr. Jino Kurian for grades 7-8 and Ms. Pallavi Das for grades 9-10.

IF I AM WORKING IN A TEAM, DO I NEED TO SUBMIT A PARENT PERMISSION FORM?
Yes. If you are submitting a team entry, each member of the team must submit a signed parent/legal guardian consent form.

WHEN FILLING OUT THE PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN CONSENT FORM, I CANNOT ENTER ANYTHING IN THE SIGNATURE FIELD. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO SUBMIT A SIGNATURE ON THE FORM?
You may type in all information directly into the parent/legal guardian consent form, except for the signature, which needs to be manually signed. Please print, sign, and upload the completed form. A digital signature is also an option.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SKETCHES

WHAT MATERIALS SHOULD BE USED WHEN CREATING MY DESIGN IDEA?
There are no requirements for materials. Your sketch can be drawn in any medium, by hand or on a computer.

IS THERE A STANDARD FILE-NAMING FORMAT REQUIRED FOR UPLOADING THE DESIGN SKETCH AND PERMISSION FORM?
No. You will receive a unique identification number on completing the registration form. Make sure this unique identification number is included on your sketch or file name.

MY DESIGN CONTAINS MORE THAN ONE IMAGE. CAN I SUBMIT MORE THAN ONE FILE OF MY DESIGN?
No, you may only submit one file for your design sketch, and your sketch must be on one page.

IS IT A REQUIREMENT THAT THE SKETCH I SUBMIT BE HAND DRAWN?
No. It is not a requirement that the sketch you submit be drawn by hand. You can use a computer to create your sketch or take a photograph of a prototype or model of your design. Read more about design requirements.

ARE STUDENTS ALLOWED TO USE PHOTOGRAPHY IN THEIR DESIGNS?
Yes. Sketches may include photography, hand-drawn images, and computer created images.

ARE SKETCHES ALLOWED TO BE LARGER THAN THE SUGGESTED A3 SIZE PAPER?
Yes. You may work on your design sketch on a page that is larger than A3. Please note that the file you upload of your design sketch (.jpg format required) must be at least 8.5 x 11 inches at 300 dpi.

SHOULD THE DESIGN HAVE TO RELATE TO COVID-19?
No. Covid-19 is currently impacting every aspect of our daily life, but the requirement of your design is to create a brighter future for the city that reaches beyond the Covid-19 pandemic.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR WINNERS

WHAT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WILL I HAVE TO PROVIDE IF I WIN?
In addition to your design, you will have to provide your full name, age, grade, a recent photograph, and answer the questions asked about your design. You will explain your vision for Bengaluru and how you think it could become a reality. Read more about the challenge and how to enter before you prepare your design.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO IF MY DESIGN NEEDS TO BE FURTHER REFINED?
If it is decided that your design must be further refined, you will be asked to sign a consent form that indicates that you are okay with the artists modifying your design instead. You will be kept informed about the extent of modifications made to your design.

WILL I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONTINUE TO STAY INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT?
Yes. If you are interested, you will be invited to join the student committee of the project and will be involved and engaged throughout the development of the book.
